Acne Treatment

What is acne?

Acne is the result of the excess production of sebum, and oil naturally created by the body to moisturize and protect skin. Too much sebum, mixed with dirt and dead skin cells, can lead to blocked pores, which afterwards become infected and inflamed, producing red pustules on the face, called acne.

Everyone suffers from pimple outbreak at some point in life, although acne remains largely a curse of adolescence, it mostly starts in puberty between the ages of 10 and 13 and usually it is worse for people with oily skin. Only about 20% of all cases occur in adults. Those who are among that 20% do not have to suffer the pain and embarrassment any longer, thanks to advances in cosmetic technologies.

How can acne be treated

There are multiple ways to treat acne. Some unblock pores, while others reduce oil production or the bacteria that create acne. Consultation before deciding what to do is the best way to choose which type of treatment is the best choice for your skin, as the individual circumstances have to be considered. For example the extent and severity of the acne, or if you have scars or are at risk of scarring, etc.
