CHEMICAL PEEL

WHAT IS A CHEMICAL PEEL AND WHY TO DO IT?

Chemical peeling works to make your skin tone better and to remove fine lines. These cosmetic treatments are very popular in North America. If your skin is sun-damaged or you have fine lines, facial wrinkles and age spots – a chemical peel is your solution.

HOW DOES IT WORK?

Chemical peeling includes various components that dissolves the top layer of skin and allows you to have a new one which is fresher, smoother and looks more youthful.

WHAT KINDS OF CHEMICAL PEELS ARE THERE?

There are different depths of chemical peels. It can be superficial, medium, or deep.

Superficial peels:

This is a glycolic acid peel offered by our clinic. Over the course of just a few of these effective treatments your skin has a youthful glow. Treatment sessions are short (15-20 minutes). And there is a sensation of minimal heat for a few seconds.

Superficial peels does not require a recovery period as there is no bruising and there may appear just some minimal redness, so patients can return to normal activities immediately. For the desired result we recommend several treatments after which you see a noticeable change in your skin.

Superficial peels is non-invasive and inexpensive treatment. It helps to maintain your skin smooth, fresh, less textured, and more radiant.

Medium-depth chemical peels:

This procedure works deeper than a Glycolic Acid peel, it removes a superficial layer of skin, as a result it reduces wrinkles and makes your sun-damaged, aged skin look fresh and young.

It also helps to reduce and improve superficial acne scarring, though this may require more than one treatment, performed 6-8 weeks apart. To perform a medium depth chemical peel a variety of substances can be used, the most common is TCA.

Unlike Glycolic acid peels, medium-depth chemical peels are not considered a maintenance treatment. The effect of the medium-depth chemical peels lasts several years.

Because of the deeper level of peeling, medium-depth chemical peels may cause you a redness and raw skin surface for 5-7 days. During this period, the peeled skin layer sloughs off and a new layer grows, so patients should make a skin care by cleaning and lubricating it. The recovery time is one week, after which make-up may be applied and patients can return to daily activities.

Deep chemical peels:

Deep chemical peels requires long recovery period as it causes a longer redness. This treatment is seldom performed and preferred for patients who have deep acne scarring.
